How to decide your tablecloths’ sizes to fit the standard round or rectangle tables in the EU or U.S. markets?
To choose wedding tablecloth sizes for standard round or rectangular tables, first confirm your table dimensions, then decide on the drop length (how far the cloth hangs down). The formula is simple: Tablecloth Size = Table Dimension + (Desired Drop × 2). For a formal wedding, the most common choice is a floor-length drop, which requires adding about 60 inches to the table’s diameter (round) or to both length and width (rectangular), because standard banquet tables are 30 inches high.
Standard EU and U.S. Table Sizes: Most wedding venues use these standard tables:
Round Tables: 60-inch diameter (seats 8 comfortably) or 72-inch diameter (seats 10).
Rectangular Tables: 6-foot (30″ × 72″) or 8-foot (30″ × 96″).
1. Recommended Tablecloth Sizes for Floor-Length Look: If you want the linen to puddle elegantly or just touch the floor (30″ drop), here are the standard sizes to rent or buy:
For Round Tables: · 60″ Round Table → Use a 120″ Round Tablecloth. This provides a 30-inch drop all the way around.
· 72″ Round Table → Use a 132″ Round Tablecloth. This also gives a full floor-length drop.
For rectangular Tables: 6-Foot Table (30″ × 72″) → Use a 90″ × 132″ Tablecloth. This covers the top and drapes to the floor on all sides.
· 8-Foot Table (30″ × 96″) → Use a 90″ × 156″ Tablecloth for floor-length.
2. If You Prefer a Shorter Drop: If you want a more casual or semi-formal look where the table legs show:
· Mid-Length (Lap Level): Aim for a 15-inch drop. For a 60″ round table, a 90″ round cloth works well. For a 6-foot rectangle, a 60″ × 120″ cloth gives about a 14–15 inch drop.
· Casual: A 6–12 inch drop is typical for everyday dining, but for a wedding, a longer drop is generally preferred to look polished.
